I recently posted about how I was having problems tying smaller flyes on my leaders. Obviously I am not the only one with eyes that are not what they use to be.I checked out several of the suggestions.A magnetic threader from Orvis, the cf system and needle threaders from the fabric store.The needle threaders form the fabic store were the best value at about $3.00.The magnetic threader from Orvis was the easiest to use up to about a size 18.My opinion is the cf system is the best.I feel confident that I can now change flies when I want.
Dr. Slick has a couple of threaders out, one of the (the JR) is made for small flies. I have never used them, but talking to people who have, they work pretty well.
Bifocals, ha! What about those of us in the trifocal group? I have always used the C&F Designs threaders which come in three sizes, standard, midge, and ultramidge. I find that they clip onto the plastic D-rings on the front of my vest for easy access and they work very well.
