Hey Bonk
I had no idea that Putah was considered navigable. I can admit when I am wrong. However, I think a citation on the definition or factors of why a river is considered navigable might have been more helpful than the citation you provided.

Hey Bonk
I just read my last post and I sounded like a jerk.  Totally did not mean it to sound like that, but I am interested in knowing how a river is determined navigable or not.

Hey Captain,

I believe that Solano lake does not fall under the seasonal bait restriction, just Putah Creek itself.  It would be nice if that were the case year-round as well, but perhaps someday.

By the way, my friend Andan floated Solano this past weekend as well with the same results, so don't feel bad.  But the lake usually has good fishing in the summer once they plant regularly.

No worries Matt. I grabbed part of that quote from the following link:

http://www.dbw.ca.gov/PDF/PublicTrustDoctrine.pdf

There's a few other references but that one above really maps to both the laws and repeated interpetation of them through court decisions.

http://rubicon.water.ca.gov/v1cwp/sdbrs/nav.html

Is another good reference.  With Putah's established history of being used by Fur Traders/Trappers, it would be very easy to get it to fall under the commerce clause, let alone any of the other interpetations.  The CA Constitution guarentees the most liberally interpretation of the term in order to allow for recreational uses.
