I came out to fish at access 5 today and experienced an unfortunate scene. According to the CHP, a motorcycle was coming down from the lake and smacked a car coming out of access 5. The car was a blue-gray colored Acura, occupied by a white guy and an hispanic guy. The driver side rear has heavy damage along with possible traces of red paint from the bike. If anyone sees this car , at the creek or not, call Sergeant Andrew Hill of the CHP at (530) 662-4685 or email at ahill@chp.ca.gov asap.
Boy I have come close right there by vehicles just coming down that hill too fast. I am so sorry that this has happened. I wonder why this guy chose to drive away? maybe they were just down there drinking or something, who knows. What a tragedy I pray for all those involved.
What heartless, Snot wipping, incompitant, idiotic, !@# holes!!!!!!! This is what will just blow all my fuses, and break my heart. I hope he will rest in peace. And the mindless criminals go to hell!
As I was heading into the creek area by the store yesterday I did notice about 4 CHP cars going the other way by the Pardesa store at about 3:30, I thought it was a little odd. That is a terrible story to hear about. As a fellow motorcycle rider I hate to hear stories like this. As a prudent driver while in my trucks I always roll down my window when I am pulling out of the parking lots along the creek. I listen for vehicles to try and get some type warning if cars or bikes are approaching. Also as a cyclist everyone should take time to pass the cyclists on a clear section of 128. Happy trails and tight lines!
What a sad event on the creek. We should also watch out for the crazies ridding thier bicycles along the road. It's a wonder we don't hear about them being hit.
I read in the Davis Enterprise today (Monday) that the mc rider was 53 and was from Sacramento. Some international guests from south of the border were fishing Sunday and had seen the entire thing occur. Apparently the car just drove out in front of the oncoming bike too late for the bike to do anything about it. The Acura was found abandonned in Vacaville. The owner of the car will be in deep crap when they catch up. Amazing what a few 40 ouncers of King Cobra can do. That is all.
I hope you mean that you are concerned for the people who have taken it upon themselves to either commute or stay fit exercising their legal right to ride (bicycle) a public highway.
I understand the context of your statement means you think they are crazy for riding on the road in the first, not that only crazy people ride bicycles, but as an avid cyclists I try to take every opportunity to drive home (no pun intended) that cyclists have every right to be on that road. In fact, they have the right to ride right down the middle of the lane if there is debris/reasons for them not to feel safe riding on the shoulder.
While the motorcyclist was not a cyclist per se, I hope everyone thinks about the nature of thr road and SLOWS DOWN. There is no reason to drive anything abover the speed limit out there and every reason to drive more slowly and cautious.
I also hope that when you and anyone else reading this post sees a cyclist you are hoping for their safety and not harboring some "crazy cyclist" mentality. As you walk through the grocery store check out all the people who are in dire need of exercise which ultimately cost the US millions due to obesity-related illness/diseases.
Perhaps if people felt safe enough cycling on public roadsways, they would give it a shot and do themselves, and society as a whole a favor.
Ok end rant, just wanted to make sure that the crazy cyclist statement was clarified.

Bonk, I am sorry if I offended you or any other bike ridders. You certainly have every right to ride the hwy. The roads are narrow and the margin of safety at 50 mph is slim. Please be careful.
A thought for all of you safety freaks out there. . . Regardless of whatever laws are written and passed, when you swim in the ocean, remember that you are still on the menu.
Bonk wrote:I used to ride back in the late 80's and early 90's and made more than a few trips up 128. When we had a vehicle coming up from behind it was "car back" and we would drop into single file. When driving in the same area it was obvious that other riders had the same practice.
By the mid 90's it was common to see large packs of cyclist spread out across an entire lane. When a vehicle approached from behind they were just out of luck as the cyclists would remian spread out. Single digit salutes were common towards vehicles along with the appropriate wave back. Following a group of cyclists for a mile because they are spread out across a lane and can't or won't ride single file so traffic can pass.....................................
What changed?

Everybody, Some dudes just swiped a car, went to the creek and got ripped. Then they just did something really stupid and somebody else got killed for it. What the hell does anything you guys are driveling about relate to this? I had a nice 48 panhead that I spent a lot of time working on to keep it in shape. As much as I loved that bike I sold it because beastly little miscreants kept trying to figure out ways to steal it. I have no idea what I'm trying to tell you. Maybe just that its not worth dwelling over, just get out there and fish, dangit. Good luck. Mike
