A while back i asked you guys on advice on purchasing a new setup, i must say thanx for all your advice, i casted a few sage rods, not as many as i wanted, but i decided on my original plan and purchased a thomas& thomas 8 foot 3 peice 4 weight rod,rod is meduim action ,a abel super series reel, and a rio. grande line, total cost $1,100 bucks, but i must say this stuff is a freakin work of art. The soft meduim action is like candy in my hands, I been fishin a fast action rod, and man the nice soft action of a good meduim action rod is so sweet.
4 weights have got to be perfect for Putah in the winter. I've never heard of a Thomas & Thomas, but remember you talking about them in another post. I do like med. action rods, but I'm such a fast caster. They got to be great at protecting 6 and 7x tippets here. What did you think of the Sage TXL? I want to cast those new Z-Axis rods by Sage, I heard they are awesome.
Ive heard great things about that TXL and I have picked one up at the shop. It is super light, it must be a blast. It is not a cheap rod. I just got the new Z-axis 4w 9 ft. It is a magic stick. I also have Z-axis 6w which is great but pretty stiff for playing smaller trout. Its perfect for Steel Head on the Trinity when your trying to get that fly over to the far side. I just ordered this echo2 3w designed by Tim Rajeff. It comes with two tips. www.echoflyfishing.com/freshwater.php Best part its only $269. In time the price of these rods will go up. He is just getting started.
