Has anyone fished for bass from around winters down to stevensons bridge in the last few years? I used to do REALLY good for both smallmouth and largemouths down there. buth thqat was about 12 years ago. stopped and checked out a few spots on the way home today, looks pretty "fishy". Im thinkin about float tubin it soon.

I tried that a couple of years ago with mixed results. There were plenty of smallish fish but nothing to write home about. I've talked with somebody in the past that said they have done very well closer to Davis with a lot of nice sized fish.

My biggest complaints were the huge number of large spiders that had webs literally everywhere. Something about 5lb spiders walking up my arm gave me the willies The other issue was the low life that seem to hang out in the area. My last trip there I ended up calling the Sheriff on a guy that was dumping off his garbage, tv, couch, ect ect on the side of the creek. I didn't approach him due to dirtballs with sidearms make me more nervous than 5lb spiders.

Hell maybe thats why he had the gun

thats pretty funny, i know exactly what your talkin about. I dont know what they are but there are some big ass spiders down there, i used to fish the lower creek a few times a week and dreded those things. I caught a largemouth a hair under 10 lbs near the winters bridge years ago. theres also like 20 lb.carp in there, but i never could get one to bite anything i offered.

Got an update for you. Talked to my neighbor who has been going down there a couple times a week for the last month or so but a slightly different spot.

He drives over Putah on I-80 and takes the first offramp after crossing the creek. Turn back toward the creek and park on the levee. Evidently there are plenty of other people fishing that area and he stated that you can actually see the bass. He said most are small but every now and then a large one cruises by. Heck for all I know he is seeing carp but he has landed a few smaller bass.

Water conditions would allow the use of a float tube, canoe ect
