Hey yall,

Been a while since I posted.  I'm drifting the lower Sac next Sunday and Monday.  I actually have set up a guide, but wanted to know if anyone here has any pointers etc.  They have suggested a 6 wt rod, however the 6 rods that I have are all 5 wt.  Is there really that big of a difference betwixt the two?  Please any info on this would be greatly appreciated.

I've fished the lower sac probably 30 times, all with a 5 wt. The guides at the fly shoppe do recommend the 6 wt. however. I think a 6 wt. may help some people with setting the hook while stack mending. Some time you have a lot of line coiled up. But I wouldn't worry about it. You should have a good time that's a great river and the fly shoppe guides really know that water. good luck.

Agree with Jeff.  A 5 wt is fine for the Lower Sac.  I'm floating it next week so let me know how it goes!
