Fellow Anglers,

Do any of you fish in Solano for rainbows and browns? If so what are the secerts? Sinking line? Fall River Long drifts with floating line anchored up? Do most go up to the mouth of Putah to start fishing? Never have fished the lake but thought it might be a good summer option. Any help would be great.

In Lake Solano I would try damselfly nymphs and boatman patterns along the weeds.  There are lots of baitfish in the lake, so small streamers would work well, too.  You can also use a dry/dropper set up for rising fish.  As for access, you can put in at the "Y."  At the Pleasants Valley Rd bridge there is a boat launch where you can get out.  This section is technically part of the lake, but this time of year there is still quite a bit of current.  There are few access points in the park where you get out if you want to go a little further.  It is best to fish with somebody so you can use 2 cars-1 at the put in point and 1 at the point where you get out.  Otherwise, you'll be doing a lot of walking.
