I broke out my float tube and headed up to Lake Solano yesterday. I landed three rainbows: a 17 incher on a damselfly nymph, and two typical hatchery fish, one on a Griffith's Gnat and the other on a #22 midge pupa. I hooked a couple of others but lost them.
I saw a few otters and a pair of beavers. I didn't know there were beavers in the creek. I thought they were otters at first but their heads looked too big. Then they got agitated and slapped their tails on the water as I floated by, giving away their identities.
Leaving the lake, I stopped at Pardehsa's. There was a picture of a nice brook trout that the man in the store claimed was caught in Putah Creek. Has anyone else heard about broookies in the creek? I honestly don't believe it. Even if it's true, I probably wouldn't believe it unless I saw it.

I haven't fished in Lake Solano for a number of years. How is the weed situation ? Last time(a few years back now), it seemed like the area was getting excessively weedy...
There are weeds along the edges and in some places in the middle. I just fished the edges of the weeds-that's where the insects are and consequently the fish.
