Hot Flies ?

Hey Everyone,

I am heading to the creek tomorrow and I was wondering what flies I should bring.  I always take some midges along, but I was wondering if anyone could recommend any other flies that I can tie up before I go.  Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Matt

Caddis pupae always seem to work.  I would bring them in #14-18 in light brown and olive.  Mayfly nymphs work well, also.  I would bring a good selection of nymphs in #16-22.  If you want to try something different, tie up some damselfly imitations and fish them through the slower runs.  These patterns, along with midges have never let me down.

Don't forget the woolly buggers, I caught and released a beatiful 18" native Friday evening.  It spent more time in the air then it did in the water before it saw the net.  That fish had a belly that made me think it had never missed a meal in its life and its fins and dorsal were absolutely perfect.

Thanks guys. Something came up and I couldn't make it out, but I appreciate the advice. I hope to get this weekend. If it's not too crowded!

FYI: Greg, over at Sweeneys in Napa, ties a great midge.
