CDFW is developing a new online freshwater species survey system to help the Department develop a more modern approach to measure use of fishery resources by anglers within the state. The initial version of the survey rolled out on January 1 and is currently limited to bodies of water found within CDFW Region 2. It will eventually include all statewide bodies of freshwater. It includes all cold and warm game fish species found in R2. It is designed to replace many of the Angler Survey Boxes (ASB) now in use. Data entered by anglers will be similar to that we collected in the previously available PCT online survey for Putah such as county of residence, number of fish, size of fish, hours fished, angler satisfaction, etc. We recommend that you visit their website (https://ciras.wildlife.ca.gov/) and give it a spin.
