I am new to this forum and wanted to inquire about the angels camp area. any good streams hosting brookies/brownies in those parts??? Will flow/clarity be a problem in mid June??? I have recently moved from Flagstaff arizona back to the bay, so if anyone needs some good info. for a future trip to arizona, please ask!!!!
I fish the Stanislaus river below Lake Tulloch quite a bit. I have never caught any browns, but there are a lot of very large fiesty rainbows. I think they plant in that stretch, but I've always caught native fish. I don't know of many places for browns in that area specifically. You would need to go up to Beardsley above the town of Strawberry. Lots of Browns in the Stanislaus below, and above the lake. If you want Browns - need to travel north above Chico. I went to college at Chico State and found several places where there is nothing but Browns. There are a couple of places on the American River, as well, but I'm not very familiar with that river.
