The Joads visit the Yuba.

So I go to the Yuba yesterday and of course it's ATV day, with what seems like every offroad fan in Cal North in attendance. Whatever,  I'll be up on the island past the bridge. And so I find myself, fishing there when I hear a vehicle,  much louder than anything else in the area ripping up the riverbed behind me.  It is an older jeep wagoneer,  jacked up and festooned with trump bumper stickers and it's headed my way. There is no other word for  this occasion than Dammit.  Thus I say it "Dammit". They roar on up and out pops the Joad family version 2.0 . There are 3 adults and two children and their combined weight is at least 1300 pounds.  I swear to God,  the kids were 175- 200 apiece, the adults,  much, much,  more. I keep on fishing, and then I start hearing loud " plunk plunk " sounds. It is the Joad children, throwing large rocks in the river. I scan the jeep for an NRA sticker, find it,  and figure that there's at least one gun in the cab. So I turn around and head back to main shore. They eye me with a mix of curiosity and amusement as I shuffle by them. One of the kids asks me how the fishing was and I tell him, " It was good for a while." Then I keep going.
