ATTENTION: Yolo County has closed all Fishing Accesses on Putah Creek until further notice. Violators of the order may be cited for trespassing. Yolo County Sheriff's deputies will be providing enforcement. That includes roadside parking: if you are found anywhere on the Access properties you risk citation. Part of the reason for the closure was a series of vandalism acts, including the bathrooms and public defecation at multiple locations. More than coronavirus as a health hazard. Additionally, the Cold Canyon/Stebbins Reserve hiking trail system has also been closed by UC Davis.

Somebody vandalizes a bathroom and the solution is to close the creek to everybody. Glad I moved.

I assume it’s not only the vandalism that caused the closure. Everything else around here is closed ( Rockville park, pena adobe park, stoneyford ohv, stebbins cold canyon, ect.) all because of the corona virus. Crazy stuff!!

Here's the full press release:

March 25, 2020

**PARK CLOSURE NOTICE—EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY**

All Yolo County Parks, with the exception of those listed below, will be closed to the public until further notice. The Knights Landing Boat Launch and Clarksburg Boat Launch will remain open until 5:00pm on Friday, March 27. All other parks will be closed beginning Thursday, March 26. The Parks Division had hoped to keep all of our parks open to provide opportunities for the public to spend time outdoors while following social distancing recommendations during the shelter-in-place orders. However, with limited staffing during this time, we do not have the resources to adequately maintain our park properties while also ensuring the health and safety of our visitors and staff. Additionally, over the past few days many of our facilities have been the target of vandalism and various forms of waste disposal. While this is not the decision we had hoped to make, it was made in the interest of public health and safety.

Anyone entering closed parks may be cited for trespassing and the Yolo County Sheriff’s Office will continue to patrol these areas. The Parks Division understands this is an inconvenience, but in these unprecedented times we ask for the public’s full cooperation in adhering to these closures.

In order to provide some opportunities to recreate safely outdoors, the following parks are scheduled to remain open:

  • Elkhorn Regional Park boat ramp (picnic areas closed)
  • Capay Open Space Park (picnic areas closed)
  • Valley Vista Regional Park trail system
  • Trails accessed via Road 40 (across low water bridge). Limited parking available along Road 40. Lower Site main parking lot and restrooms closed.

The County may also close these parks if deemed necessary at any point. While using these parks it is imperative that visitors follow social distancing recommendations, follow the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s guidelines for personal hygiene, and pack out any waste.

For additional information please contact Yolo County Parks at 530-406-4880.
