People are out on Munoscong bay now but the ice is a little sketchy for my taste. I have no desire to be the first or last one on the ice. A buddy was out a few days ago with his snowmobile on 5 inches or so. I'm still learning, aren't we all, but I need more ice. Give it a week. I did some electrical work on a friends cabin a few weeks back. It was -8 when I started and -25 by the time I got home. Honestly, not that big of a deal. Heck, my jeep doesn't even have a heater.
I did a little bit of flyfishing on some local creeks but didn't have any luck. I did much better fishing from my kayak out in the Les Cheneaux islands and nearby Carbou lake. It really isn't a trout stream game here. On that note I picked up a 19 1/2 foot aluminum boat. The kayak just doesn't compete with 90 horses out on the islands, but there is still a ton of water to fish with the yak.
This fall, rather than fishing, I was out chasing deer, grouse and wood****. No luck with the archery gear but had a great time chasing the birds with a shotgun. I see a Brittany in my future.

Sounds like you're a lot tougher then I am. I used to hunt in the snow. Not anymore. You'll like a Brittany. Keep plodding with the different approaches. You are going to start scoring some nice fish on a regular basis. It should be about time for the steelhead to move out of the great lakes? That should be fun. I'm waiting to hear of a consistent report somewhere and then make a steelhead run.
