Since I couldn't bear the idea of a crowded Putah on a high water Saturday, I went to the Yuba instead. The water was high but really clear and still wadeable in the bridge area, (but not beyond the whitewater run ), and March Browns and even a few Caddis were coming off. I however, a charter member of the Can't Catch Sh#% Club, was sh#% out of luck. I got one refusal to a March Brown dry, and to make it worse, a pod of really nice fish began slamming emergers (I think ) in a little run right by the bank, and no matter what I put in the water and how I put it there, it was refused. But I DID get some quality casting practice in.
Hi Richard, you might want to try the Truckee. Went there on Sat; less than 2 hours from Davis to the water. Flows were high and we didn't know the river but we caught fish throughout the day.

We went to a few places all around the Hirshdale area. I wish I could give you more details, but I don't know the place very well. Mostly up and down 80 a few miles up and down from where the little truckee meets up. Hope that helps :)
I just was up there last two days, its fishing really well. Just have to hike around and find the soft water. Id check out glenshire drive, everybody goes to the glenshire bridge as well as the hirsch to fish at these flows but i stayed above it off of various pullouts and didnt see another fisherman either day including saturday, but lots of people walking dogs along the paved path on river right. When the flows are lower i prefer hiking the canyon section for scenery and solitude, but with these flows I generally stay well above Floriston. Worms and rubberlegs are the only flies i needed, didnt get bit on a streamer but probably wasnt getting deep enough. Finally got a nice brown after my last 15-20 fish out of the T have all been rainbows, statisticAlly it was strange because i thought it was almost a 50/50 split between the two.
