Have a Sage SFL 580 and the cork health is dwindling.  Could anyone point in the right direction for replacing cork on this old rod or whether its probable?

Thanks

Two options,

First send it back to sage. $125 and they will replace it. The price for warranty repairs on older rods like that just went up this year.

Second, contact a local rod builder and have them replace it for you. I’ve used Jim Victorine before and he great. Pretty reasonable too.

I'll try to contact Jim.  Sage couldn't replace or fix the cork for some odd reason.  They only offered a replacement with a RPL blank which is graphite rather than the fast glass of the SFL.  Thanks

Sage would’ve kept that SFL and refurbished it.

With the reverse taper due to the guides that makes for an interesting fix if you had to use new cork. If you have salvageable cork then DIY route looks pretty simple.
