Anybody care to chime in on how the fishing has been the last couple of days? Are the Flows at their summer level yet? I looked at the charts but those things can be quite unreliable.

I guess Nobody is fishing huh? Or maybe nobody's talking, because they're too busy fishing.

Got half dozen to net yesterday, plus had a pig come out of the water twice before snapping 4x above point fly. they seem to be holding closer to edges or down deep. Wading is getting adventurous :)

Thanks for the feedback, I guess I'll pack up my stuff and head out there soon. I like it when the flows jump up, keeps the flatfoots away.

Flows are a bit chunky but still plenty of fun fishing to be had. Some of the deeper riffled water gives a little more cover to prevent them from spooking.

At Putah, sometimes you are just gonna pay dues. All of the tips are sound but as for myself, I'm not a fan if dispensing with the fly line. I got this tip from Ross, and it works for me and is SIMPLE to boot. Tie 5 to 6 feet of 12 lb. flouro to the fly line. Then tie in the smallest swivel made and to that ties 5 feet of 5x. Tie your attractor to the line and put a 12"-16" dropper. I don't want the dropper to be too far from the first fly as I believe that it warbles around so much that you miss pickups. Use as much weight as you need to get it down. You will lose some rigs, get over it. Put the indicator where it needs to be to get it down. I personally run a VERY long leader. It's hell to cast and I frequently look like a dork, but I'm not out there to impress. Try using 18-20 nymphs, zebras and flashback wd 40's. Don't give up, if you can catch fish at Putah, you can catch them anywhere.

Mudhen, thanks for the feedback. What do you mean by you're not a fan of dispensing with the fly line? Do you mean that you keep your fly line inside the rod? This is also how I prefer to fish in shallow pocket water.

Hmm, this was meant for the nymph rig post. But it somehow got here. Yeah, I prefer to keep my fly line on the reel. I tried a mono only set up but it just felt weird. And I went out today and paid some dues. Lost 2 rigs and got skunked. The flows are now burly and I'm hanging up the nymph rod for the summer. It's time for me to learn to swing some streamers on my sink tip setup. I have a special hat that covers my ears and the side of my face and I'm damned sure that I am going to make certain that the barbs are not just pushed down, but GONE altogether. That way, when I do the inevitable and hook my head, I'll be able to remove the hook with minimal blood loss.

I've managed to fish the creek 3 time over last week and a half.  Skunked first two days, but managed a few fish today.  Water is high, and I'm having difficulty finding wadable waters, but that's the learning curve I guess. 😐
