I grew up in NC and honeymooned in Brevard, NC. While in Brevard, I went to a brewery and noticed a flyer that advertised a weekly fly tying meet up in that brewery during the winter months. I thought it was a really awesome idea. Would anyone here be interested in meeting up at a brewery in Davis or somewhere near the creek and exchange stories, patterns, and tips while we have a few beers and tie a few flies up? I'd especially love to hang out with and watch some of the older gentlemen here that have been doing this for years and years, who could share some Putah creek fly tying knowledge with the group. Let me know your thoughts and maybe I can try and plan an evening.
That is a fine idea hares ear, that, as you mentioned is popular in other areas nearby to great trout streams...Hopefully you can make something happen on this..
Hey Jon,
Thanks for the reply. I live really close to a fly shop in Pleasant Hill and mentioned the idea to the owner there, and he seemed interested as well. We've got a couple of breweries around that could be great locations, but I am open to finding a more central spot if that works for most people interested. If anyone else would be interested, can you comment and I'll try and schedule something soon.
Did this ever materialize? If so I would be interested although I just recently purchased my first fly tying kid and supplies within the last year or so.
