Sunflower seeds
mini candy bars
sandwich of some sort A Subway BMT with no mayo, mustard or oil (dry sandwich) keeps really well in a vest
mini thermos for coffee depending on water fished and time of year
I've packed my h2o pump. Again, depending on water fished and time of year
gorp or some sort of trail mix
A small flask of good burbon on occasion.

For a trip to Putah it is rare for me to carry along more than a bottle of water and some spits. The same goes for shorter trips or locations where I move from place to place via vehicle.

A non food item that I seldom forget is my med kit with epipens.

When fishing I seem to loose my normal appetite. I feel like time off the water is time wasted, so I grab something like:
* Fruits (apple, banana, grapes, seasonal fruits).
* A can of sardines and a hunk of bread - or - Cold cuts sandwich prepared the night before and a small bag of chips.
* A handful of dates or dried figs
* Water

Sometimes I skip the Sardines or the sandwich and just eat the fruits. I do not miss having a more elaborate meal, but this is only when I fish. At work or at home I eat better.

I usually carry a Smokey Joe with me, some charcoal, a slab of Frenched rack of lamb, some spices like sage and rosemary, s&p, olive oil, and then a bag of potatoes and a pot to make mashed. It's not too heavy for a hike less than 8 miles. Then, I'll grill up the rack of lamb and serve on a bed of mashed potatoes. It's a simple and easy on the river lunch.

Wow Skol!  Let me know when you will be there.  I'll bring the wine and Grey Poupon.
