Greetings to Friends of Putah Creek, Putah Trout and our wonderful Wild Trophy Trout fishery:
September 30 marks the 8th anniversary of the formation of Putah Creek Trout as a 501(c)3 nonprofit, promoting stewardship and protection of the Trophy Wild trout fishery within the Interdam Reach. During that time, we have achieved a catch and release barbless artificial lure only fishing regulation, the Trophy Wild Trout water designation, and increased critical habitat expansion to improve the stability and growth of the trout population. We are currently working on improving access by removing nonnative blackberry and design and extension of creek-side trails, erosion control, and replacement of non-native plants with natives and continuing identifying additional spawning bed habitat.
In support of our conservation efforts, Fly Fishers of Davis is hosting the Orvis Down the Hatch Film Festival, a series of short films. These films are family-friendly, funny, and feature fresh and sal****er fishing. The short films are typically Hollywood-level cinematography, top-notch writing, and many follow the idea that the journey is every bit as important as the destination, and they are enjoyed by fly-fishers and conventional anglers alike.
This is a UNIQUE event-the festival has never been shown in Northern California before and this will be the only screening.
Leading off the playbill will be our own short film, Putah Creek Trout: History and Heritage, that chronicles historical events occurring within the Interdam Reach that have led to environmental problems and continuing efforts at achieving solutions, all presented against the background natural beauty of this unique natural resource.
The event is designed as a family friendly event, with pre-screening games and activities for kids of all ages, local food vendors, wines from Bogle Winery, beer from local 3 Mile Brewery, and a variety of non-alcoholic beverages. A raffle held during the mid-screening intermission will feature dozens of high quality donated items.
A limited number of tickets for the film screening will be available for purchase at the door. If you cannot attend, please consider a donation to support our conservation and restoration efforts.

Just got home from an emergency vet trip. The kitty girl is ok. Something bit her leg and it is all swollen, but it wasn't a rattler thankfully. But, I won't be able to make the event now. Sorry to miss it. And, I was feeling really strong about the raffle, too...
