Hey guys,
Been out twice in the last week (Fri 10 and today the 15th) both days turned out better than I expected. Friday I fished around the lower island and up around the bridge. I caught half a few small ones and two fish around 14" (one that looked like Bill the Cat.... I think an otter, or osprey got a hold of him). I did hook a very nice fish above the campground where all the RV's are parked... but he broke me off. He was pushing 20" but I was just happy to get a hold of something sizable that day.
Today started slow but ended with a bang...
Fished around the lower island all day and hooked a really nice one above the split but didn't get him in the net. I did land a nice 14" fish about a half hour later in the same stretch. Picked up a 10" after working the water very close to shore. It was about 3 pm when I put the yellow glo bug on and all hell broke lose. The first fish was 20", the 2nd was 12", and the 3rd was 16". Three fish in four casts... Which I don't think I've ever done on this creek, let alone in this much water. So I walked away pretty satisfied to say the least.
I will say wading across at the top of the island was at my limit at 730 cfs and would not recommend it till it drops another 100 or so.
It has been difficult, but I've been concentrating on finding slow holding water near the shoreline.. and fishing anything that isn't moving like a rocket. I've still convinced that with the water clarity at about 18" to 24", a egg pattern and any dropper with a little flash is your best bet. I've also been loading on the shot....2 to 3
AB or BB to get the flies down, and using big mends and long drifts (like fishing for Steelhead) to cover as much water as possible. Hope this helps, its produced some results for me and good luck next time out.
Tight lines
Kegger

Yup,

Caught one last week, very fat and very pretty. There was absolutely no reason this trout should have hit this stimulator, but it did and I was pleasantly surprised.

Fishing in the late afternoon, Friday.

Cheers,
Patric
