Well, I fished the high flows about 4 times since the first storms, and up to this point each trip has been dismal at best, skunked each time.  If you've never seen a river otter in the "wild" before, you have an almost 100% chance of seeing one above the bridge, first time I've ever seen any so for me it was pretty neat.  They'll just kinda swim by you and stare as if to say "what are you doing here?", if you make bird noises they will even fight the current to check you out longer.  As for the fishing, i have fished holes where I know there are fish, for up to 4 hours at a time, changing flies, monotonously casting over and over again into the seams, the froth, the troughs, pockets, a foot out in front of me, nothing.  The only thing the fish do is sometimes, two or three of them will sporadically jump four feet into the air at the same time, which will scare the s%*$ out of you; I guess theyre down there squabbling over territory or something.  I did cross to the island down at five when the flows were about 900cfs, big mistake.  I made it over fine, but coming back I had to try 3 times before finally making it, you get half way across and it turns into moon gravity, I was almost taken away a few times.  And the reward for crossing over to the island was...well nothing I guess, just more disapointment.  I was fishing one hole for about an hour when a real beat up spawner swam right up to me and continued along upstream, but that was the only fish I came into contact with from the island.  The amount of fishable area right now is pretty limited, but it is available elsewhere besides the bridge and above it.  There was a nice bwo, or maybe blue quill hatch on Saturday size 16's, but I wasn't around long enough for them to start laying eggs, or maybe they were I dont know, doesn't really matther cuz nothing was rising.  I guess my only advise, if youre looking for it, is find the slow moving water, use alot of weight, make sure youre hitting bottom, and change flies until you find what works.  Also, to whoever it is that keeps leaving flies tangled in branches within arms length distance; keep leaving them there, I picked up 6 flies on Saturday, Thanks!!
