Mokelumne River worth the time?

Going to camp around Salt Springs Res. and was wondering if hiking to the in flow of the M river into salt Springs was worth it, or does the tail water fish too?

below the hatchery, swinging gnat paterns will terrorize the 1/2 lb stealhead that hangout in the riffles. on a 4wt rod it can be fun...

Below Salt Springs the river follows the road and is pounded. I hear big browns can be found in the canyon once it leaves the road, but it looks like a rugged access.

I spend most of my time fishing the Mok since its only 25 min ride from my place. I always hook up with a flashback pheasant tail size #16 and when top water action is going a griffiths gnat always lands a few fish for me. This is by the hatchery. I landed a nice brown on the upper Mok swinging a wet fly.

I was just looking at that area online the other day as I'm planning some trips. I noticed most all of the campgrounds in the area are still closed so if anyone's heading up there be prepared to find someplace to camp.
