I got a chance to go up with a couple of customers and hit the winter run on the Trinity this past Thursday and then we followed up on Friday with a day on the Lower Sac. The Trinity was gin clear and called for long drifts away from the boat. There was no other traffic that we saw on the river between 2 boats, one on a high drift, one a low drift. We had to really work and scratch, but landed 13 steelies between the 4 of us, so we were pretty happy.
The It looked like we were the only ones on the river. Lower Sac had been fishing well, so we were geared up to hit it. Thursday night brought a lot of rain and lightning into Redding. It just dumped for about 5 hours. This threw a nice green tinge into the water. The morning was very slow, especially for the Lower Sac, but things picked up in the afternoon. We did a Bonnyview to Anderson drift and got into some quality fish. Our two boats landed 5-7 fish that were 20" and fat. The numbers were lower than usual for a Lower SAc drift, but the quality was good.
I do think that the highlight, over the fishing. was a 2 liter magnum of Davis Family Cellars Syrah that I brought up to have with our nice steaks in Weaverville. It's just been good to get out some the past couple of months, affter a year of mucho work in 2012.
Sounds like fun!! I like that second photo of Ryan biting his lip! Were you giving him a hard time about the Padres again... Maybe he was wondering about the two ice chests full of beer!! Set Bob! Settt!!! Good Stuff!
