I haven't had a fish in the net my last 4 trips out; 3 at Putah one day on the American....worst drought ever. Hitting the Yuba on Monday to try and break my year end ugly duck.
Might need a guided trip somewhere soon or I'll be hanging up the waders and cleaning the Cannondale.
You might want to wait until Tuesday to go fishing! Check the regs. There are several areas that open up on January first. Sometimes it is best to hit these spots around noon after all the crazy people leave!!! Plus you can sleep off some of that Jameson or whatever shots or beers that were inhaled!!! The super crazies are out there at dawn still drinking or didn't drink at all...
Your best bet on Monday is a river that starts with a Y. I would try something round and peach colored followed by a dark stonefly and then switch out the bottom fly every 5-10 casts.
Thanks Chris, that was the plan,,,,minus the constant swapping, maybe that's my problem, I'm too lazy to change gear when it isn't working.
Planning on parking under a large piece of concrete and fishing upstream.
