I worked the weekend and took advantage of the weather window with a day run up to the Yuba on Friday.  Seeing that it was going to be 33 degrees in the morning, I got a little later start than usual.  The river was in great shape, about 2-3 foot of visibility with that great green tinge to the water.  There was enough color in the water to provide a bit of camouflage for the anglers.  The high flows of a couple weeks ago have completely erased all of the salmon redds.  I suspect that the eggs have been washed away from all mid to late season redds.  I really like what has happened with the latest push of gravel on the river.  Thw super high flows of 60k+ last year had really gouged out parts of the river.  The latest high flow was enough to fill and flatten many areas out with smaller gravel.  The habitat has really improved.

The fishing started rockin' and rollin' right away in the morning, and was good all through the day.  Bright colors worked pretty well and a couple of new flies I had just bought worked well also.  I was able to nail a nice Yuba fatty at the end of the day in some ankle deep water where I never thought it would be holding.  All the fish were very healthy and had their usual Yuba combat game on.  I threw in a couple pictures of some of those healthy fish. The Yuba decided to be nice this day.
