WILDLIFE: State has new game plan for agency Press Enterprise Sept 28 Say so long to the California of Department Fish and Game and hello to the state Department of Fish and Wildlife. Gov. Jerry Brown signed legislation this week that changes the name and clarifies the mission of the state government’s stewards of wildlife and habitat. The agency has carried out the often conflicting roles of promoting fishing and hunting while also working to protect wildlife and habitat...Effective Jan. 1, department employees must consider all the plants and animals that are that part the ecosystem as they manage California’s wildlife and wild lands...The law makes mandatory the use of “ecosystem-based management informed by credible science in all resource management decisions.” https://mail.google.com/mail/u/0/?shva=1#label/Google+Alerts/13a3209f5801f322
The name changes but will the game still be the same...?
Wow thats a whole lotta money in uniforms and insignia changes. Maybe I can get a old one for Halloween or for the bedroom. Anybody watch southpark lastnight with the "ups guy"? j/k
The law makes mandatory the use of “ecosystem-based management informed by credible science in all resource management decisions.”
Talk about opening the door for the anti fishing, anti hunting, anti everything wackos to sue the state of California for failure to follow the law in management decisions. I do not see this change as ending well. Yet another sad day for the state of California.

I seriously hope that the cost of changing a name is the least of our worries.
Hmmm, here is just ONE example. Current F&G regulations allow us to fish for steelhead in the Yuba river. What scientific study has F&G used to justify the allowing us to fish for steelhead in that river?
........The law makes mandatory the use of “ecosystem-based management informed by credible science in all resource management decisions.........
The Center for Biological DIversity (just one of many) wants to line their pockets a little bit more, just sue the State (F&G) for failure to follow the new law in establishing the fishing regulations for the Yuba. It has nothing to do with what is good for the habitat, ecosystem, bugs or bunnies. It is all about money.
Bingo, the Yuba is closed to fishing until the proper "credible science" is established.
Think I am way off base? DOes the current fish stocking program in this state ring a bell?

I was thinking another angle. For instance, the science says the farmers and loggers ruin the "nature balance" of a river so no water thievery, therefore giving fish a chance to do their thing.
