I got out on the water around 10am. Just fished around the bridge. Two small bows on olive WD-40's about size 16. I was on my way up to Nevada City. Fished along the Yuba on the way home. On the yuba, the fish were taking size 8 golden stone nymphs in about 14"-22" of water. It was really exciting to watch the fish stalk my offering then dart in and hammer it. Still being the novice I am , I'm not sure if they were big rainbows or small steelhead. The colors on these fish were just awesome. I've never seen anything like it. If someone would send me an email address, I'll forward a pic to maybe help me out.

One more favor...I'm heading out on my first vacation in 8 years on Wed. I plan to fish all the way up to the Klamath river then all the way down the Sac on my way home. Any body know of some really good spots as I will be relying only on topo maps and what "looks good". I want to target mostly steelhead.

I would do the Klamath from I-% down stream. There is plenty of access since there is a highway the runs along the river. The other stretch i would fish  is the Keno stretch in Oregon. You will have plenty of opportunity to land some big Bows thier in the five pound range. Another spot to try is the upper-sac right there in Dunsmiur. Really good ripples there and the fish are just dumb.

yeah I would have to agree about the Keno area for big bows on the Klamath although the wading is pretty difficult and the water is usually off color.Ask the nice folks at Trophey waters fly shop I think they're located in Ashland Ore or very close to there. They can tell you all the hot flies and exactly how to get there. Also on the upper sac try fishing the simms road exit area up or down stream, some really nice water there. My ten year old son landed a real nice 20" rainbow there about a month ago.Good luck.Greg

Thanks for the help guys...My trip was postponed. I had a last minute job in West Va. I'm heading out in the morning though. I saw there was quite a bit of rain in that area. I hope the water there is still fishable. Flyfish..thanks for the post, I got quite a laugh. Being new to flyfishing I'm glad to see there are still some "dumb" fish out there.
