Yes I was in Utah last week and no I wasn't fishing. As alot of you know I am a rugby coach for the town of Dixon. Our varsity team made it to the nat'l championship in Sandy Utah last Friday and Saturday, we  beat a team from Utah 22-10 then in ths semi-finals beat Xavier from Washington DC 20-10 which put us into the championship match on Sat against a very good Penn from Boston and we dominated them by a score of 48-11. My son had fantastic games and was interviewed by ESPN and USA RUGBY. He is also on the allstar select u-19 team which is the best  23 players in Calif and will be heading to Canada to play the best allstar teams in North America! We did that last year and won all of our games including the championship, my son was also the MVP of the championship match. I am so proud of my son and all of our players, our little school of 1100 kids really shined against the big private prep powerhouse schools. To cap it all off when we came home Sunday we were greeted with a police escort a blocked off main street, news crews and about 1000 family and freinds waving signs, banners and baloons. It was enough to get me a little misty! I know this has absolutley nothing to do with flyfishing but just wanted to brag!!!
Way to go Greg and Nick. Every time I talked to you there was either a game or practice for your son's team. All that hard work paid off!! Congratulations!! Dixon National Champions!
Great achievement! way to stick it to those east coast blue bloods.  I was mourning Ulster's loss to Leinster in the Heineken Cup final most of last week. I played scrum half and winger at college. Lost a couple of teeth but got through it mostly intact. Learned some great songs.

Thats funny stuff Bob! Yeah our kids sing those songs sometimes on tour and have been reprimanded singing them in public places due to (lyrical content)! Wish us luck as we are heading to Canada to play the best of the best this Monday thru Sat, GO USA! Â Bono
Back from Canada and we kicked some Canadian A--!! Our jr varsity won their first match 90 to 5 and our varsity lost a very close match by 2 points when we missed our conversion by hitting the upright with no time remaining, the score was 36 to 38. The next match afew days later the jr varsity won again 55 to 10 and our varsity won 48 to 38 in a match that the ref did everything in his power to keep the Canadians in the game, but it didn't matter because our boys fought through the terrrible calls and came out on top anyway! This was really impressive considering these boys (both teams) have never played together untill this trip and the Canadian Allstar teams have played matches together prior to us playing them. Now they are coming to San Francisco and Dixon to play us again on July 23rd.
That is some good stuff there. Glad to hear the rugby is going so well. Keep us posted on how things go!!!

Alastair: Its good hearing from you again, hows everything? We had a tour about 6 weeks ago to Wales and England and won 3 of 4 matches there and we did this without 4 of our starters. Don't you live in England now? Hope all is well. Greg
Jeez Greg.... i would never live on that cold wet island!!!!! ....besides they can't play rugby there anyway!!!! I am kinda splitting my time between South Africa and Spain at the moment. Got a some contract work both sides that keeps me out of trouble. Keep us posted on how the Rugby is going.Â
