5x tippet!!!!!!!!

I lost a huge bow yesterday after he pulled away at my line for about 30-40 miniutes or so. It realy wasn't realy a fight. I just hung on while he looked for different holes and cover to swim to. After a hundred yard trip downstream he finaly found some overhang and got into it. I felt a bit silly pulling away with my 5x tippet and chaseing after a 26" plus 7-8lb fish with a 14" trout net. I would like to thank the two gentelmen who stopped fishing to help possibly land the monster and to take pictures.

This creek is a great place to fish!! I am comming back with some heavier gear and a camera. Anyone use 4 or even 3x??

Did you ever find you're lost net? I talked to another angler yesterday and he told me you're story as he was there to witness it! As far as tippet is concerned4x and 3x are typically to heavy on Putah, first of all the fish are pretty leader shy especially during the low flow months also using size 16-22 flies doesnt work well with heavy tippet.
