My woman asked me what I wanted to do for my birthday in March. The obvious answer was to fly fish. In order to make the experience inclusive, I came up with the idea of a cabin located on a trout stream. Can anyone suggest a place with simple cabins on a stream/river that holds trout? Send me a PM if you don't want to advertise a place.
Loon lake chalet....not really for fly fishing though it is on Loon lake. Also not exactly near fly fishing water are USFS fir look out towers that are for rent...cheap!!!
Jusr East of 3 corners at the ?fork of the Carson river there are cabins for rent that are probably more in line to what you are looking for. On the downside....huge downside actually, you b-day is before the trout opener which limits your location availability. Maybe check into the Eagle or Pyramid lake areas?

Well, depends on how the weather is--typically in march most of the sierra streams that have cabins on them are blown out.
Check the flows and watch an extended weather forecast. One pleace is the Lure resort in downyville off of the north fork of the yuba river. Fun place to fish for smaller size trout---pretty consistent fishing. Great looking river and decent cabins that are right on the river.

Although I haven't been there for over 14 years, I remember that Lakeview Terrace on Lewiston Lake has cabins. They used to be reasonable and overlook some of the best fishing spots on the lake. If you haven't been to Lewiston Lake, it fishes more like a wide slow moving river as it is an impoundment of the Trinity River. The last time I was there I caught a lot of 14-18" muscular trout on callibaetis nymphs and emergers from a float tube. I also hear that the midge and streamer fishing is excellent as well.
