The fish have been spawning long enough for eggs to be developing in the redds. Avoiding stepping on the gravel beds is even more important than not harrassing the active spawners. This danger will remain until the first of April, so be diligent and avoid wading on any exposed gravel until then.
Thanks for the suggestion B. We will be updating and replacing all signage this year as well as expanding it to more areas. From fertilization to fingerling its about 50+ days @50 degrees fahrenheit. From March 1 we go out to about Tax Day (April 15) as the last day of danger.
What do you think about including a QR code on your signs? Once scanned by a smartphone, the PCT website would load on the phone, with content specific to Redds, etc. I work in the software/graphic design world and QR codes are a great way to connect people to a message.
