Got my new fishing license and the book they call the steelhead card. Thinking of trying the Russian this week end. Anybody know what condition it's in after last weeks rain.
Ed we are pretty chalky still at this point. Somewhere between cardboard brown and green. This weekend should be a little better. Dropping like a rock til the next rains.
Thanks for the feed back. Got the urge and would like to fish. On the other hand my oldest is moving into a new apartment, so I may have to help him move. Hope I can get him moved by tomorrow.
Drove up today. Fished the area around Healdsburg. 1 grab. The combat fishermen have spread out from there usual spot and are mainly grouped in an area a little downstream. First time I was ever stopped by a game warden and I'm 65. Had the steelhead card all dated and area written in. Told him he was an endangered species and that I was glad to see him on the river. He was a nice young man and told me he was only aware of 2 fish being caught by noon. I went far down stream to a place I used to be able to cross at. The water seemed faster then usual, or maybe I'm losing my nerve, so I stopped a little short of mid stream. Drove south on West Side Rode and fished where it crosses the river. The parking area was full of cars. Wandered up stream and had a four hundred yard stretch all to myself. One huge grab, but I came away with nothing. Left a little after four. All and all, a nice day on the river. Ed
