Yolo County has closed the parking lots due to vandalism of the iron rangers for whatever money they may contain. I know most of us park on the shoulders anyway, but many that use them for picnics, etc. are affected. If you find vandalism, be a good neighbor and call Jerry Wright of Yolo County Parks, 530-406-4870. They can really use our help.
Keep in mind that if theives are messing with the iron rangers they will mess with your vehicles parked on the side of 128. I had that experience back in the early/mid 90's. I now cut out the address on my vehicle registration

If they are going to close the lots because of vandalism to the money boxes, why not just get rid of the money boxes all together? They won't make any money either way and the public can still use them.
good point packrat, the creek needs more parking anyway with as many people fishing the creek especially yesterday man it was busy out there. cutting out the address is excellent advice lighfoot. everyone should do this especially if you have a garage door opener in your ride.
The last time I fished access 3, I used the pay parking lot and the money box was gone. Its crazy that they have this great public amenity, parking and restrooms but they are closing them because some local meth head is ripping off the box for $20. I bet it costs more to collect the money that they actually take in.
