Looking for More Winter Spots

I am in hopes to do a lot more fishing this fall/winter and I would like to know where and what stays open for trout during this time of year.  I know I will spend many days @ Putah, but would like to meander off a bit as well.  I have never fished steelies, but I may like to try that as well.     Lake fishing....  Does anyone float lakes this time of year with success, where?

Info is always appreciated.

Keith

The Upper Sacramento River is open for Trout all year.  Also, the Truckee river on the Nevada side is also going to be open.  As far as Steelhead goes, I have only gone out a few times, but  I tend to hit the coastal tributaries from Half Moon Bay south just to get line wet.  Nothing serious.  I would like to get more aggressive fishing for Steelhead inland this year as well.

KHB:The lower Sac River in and near the town of Redding can offer tremendous winter trout and steelhead fishing.Contact Toby Uppinghouse 707-592-4507 he's a great guide for that area.Best bet is to float the river as there are only a handfull of access areas to wade fish.Another great place is the Trinity River for 3-6 lb average steelhead, also The Feather River near Yuba City and also the Yuba River .Plus numerous lakes that fish great in the fall and winter months, but please check the regs for closure dates and special regs. Good luck.
