I looked at the govt's website before fishing yesterday and it appeared to signal around 120 cfs. When I got to PC the flows appeared much lower than this, maybe around 80cfs. Looking at the bank and the rocks, the water looked as if it had dropped at least 6" from the previous day, probably more.
The little fish (10-12") were all over the place, but I could only raise one big boy that popped off. Overall, the bigger fish seemed tentative and possibly spooked into deeper water.
Anyone out there yesterday have an opinion? It'd be nice if the govt's website could be trusted for flow accuracy.
Not sure when you checked but the last registered reading was a 7ish on th 2nd in the morning so there must be something not quite right. In any case after fishing Putah for a while you will notice most of the flow changes occur around 9-10 am. I think it might be with that is the time the guys tht does the changing gets to work ??? I have also arrive at the creek to find the flows not what they were when I had left home. So with the trending downward flows it is quite plausible that the flows had dropped a bit by the time you got there. I have found though at the lower flows small changes don't effect the fishing as much as when they are jumping up...that can really put the fish "down"!!

Its hard to do a totally accurate calculation, but at flows below 200, the level changes about 0.5" per 10 cfs in most areas of the creek. Right now the larger fish are on the move.
Looking at the govt's chart, it seems like there are problems. There are gaps between the data points and the instantaneous value numbers are unavailable.
SK, what do you mean the larger fish are on the move? Yesterday, they were moving away from me!
