Anyone know a place where I can take my two kids fishing for bluegill or other "easy" fish to catch? Preferrably within ~ 30 - 40 minutes from Davis. I know about the "Big M" pond but it's a haul to get to. I have been to the lower Putah but I'm not sure exactly where to go and access isn't always easy... Lake Solano is dead.
Thanks,
Dan

Try the big pond in Rockville park in Fairfield. Only a 15 minute walk from the parking lot. It has tons of little blue gill and small mouth bass in there.
Hey that place looks really good. Not so much for fishing, but it is a mini mountain bike park! You can get a map online. I didn't realize Fairfield had recreation areas! Smallies are a plus though! Thanks Nic!
Dan, I fish lower Putah alot this time of year. There are tons of fish, used to be alot of largemouth but the pikeminnow are taking over big time. There is a parking lot at the Pedrick Rd. bridge. You can see alot of fish from that bridge. Olive wooly buggers are good. Spinners I'm sure would do the trick.
