does anyone know of any good camp sites (with showers) in the truckee area . I have a friend from high school coming up from LA next month and we are going ff maybe in truckee but I need showers thats just me . has anyone ever camped in truck . Donner state park ius alleady booked up any advice would be great . Thanks Richard from Napa ...

You prefer to freshen up in a COLD stream? Each of those propane/engine powered units will put out water hot enough to scald you if your not careful and shower length is only restricted by the water supply.
Gee, on a multi day trip it sure is nice to clean up. Granted I could just crash out in my sleeping bag each night with the days accumulation of sweat and dirt (fish won't smell me sneaking up along the bank will they?).
Don't knock it 'till ya try it.

A cold stream feels good when it's 75 degrees out and you've been walking up and down a river a mile or two. Plus, I'd say 90% of people don't shower when they're camping for 2-3 days.
It is kind of funny what different groups of people consider camping out! There are the people that drive their $100,000 RVs to a campground set up their satellite tv and consider that camping out! On the other extreme there are those that are hiking into the golden trout wilderness and are just happy with water, food and good fishing! If you are whomping down 4WD trails on your moto, mountain bike or jeep for a week you will definitely want to shower at some point!
Back to the original post. The only spot I know of around truckee with showers is Donner Campground. Most people make reservations and never use them. If you get there on Friday you can usually get a spot..
Another option Richard are the bladder style showers you hang from a tree. Get away from the crowds and have fairly warm water, although there aint much pressure with those. This time of year you "solar power" should get it warm enough. Google it or maybe check REI? Pretty sure they are still around. I used to have one in 8 gallon I think?

Seen this before and have only heard of great reviews from users.
If you sit the bladder on the hood of your car in the sun the water gets pretty hot. I've gone 16 days without hot water and soap and you stop noticing the smell after 3. That said, about a dozen years ago I picked my dad and 3 of his friends up after a 10 day ocean sailing trip and I thought I had 4 homeless guys in the car...the stench was sickening, but none of them smelled a thing.
