What is the best way to drift a Fox Poopah. It is clear that this is an important fly for Putah, but I have never had so much as a tug using one. Under a weight? Drifted deep? Up in the film? Should I attach a dropper?
I have had good luck with the poopah under an indicator with a weight about 12 in above the fly. I usually have a second fly as well, usually below the poopah, but not always. The last couple of weeks the fish have been taking a size 14 or 16 olive poopah pretty consistently.
