I've been away for a week with my 10yr old son Nicholas deer hunting and fishing in No Calif(by the way he out fished me on the upper Sac,he landed a fat 19" rainbow and caught more fish ,I can see the writing on the wall,it will soon be "Nicks Flyfishing" I think he's planning some sort of hostile take over!! Anyway we had a great time looking forward to it again next year. Last week before I left on my trip I had a few clients on the water and generally speaking the fishing was good,no real big fish though. One of the things I noticed was the Trico spinners on the water near access 5 and 3 which can provide some great dry fly and or emerger fishing for at times fairly large fish.We tried our darndest to hook a few big boys with some spinner patterns I tied but no luck, just one of those days I guess. Most of the fish were caught on #18 red midge, black zebra midge, brassie and wd40's.
