We made our annual pilgimage to Rock Creek, outside of Missoula this past week. Despite very high water things did not dissapoint. The outfitter we have used for the last 8 years, John Perry Flyfishing, is excellent . . . some great guides.
Our crew likes to whoop it up as well as fish, and that we did. All rivers in the Missoula area were unfishable except Rock Creek. So, twice we packed up, rented additional rooms and headed over to the Missouri River. I hate to admit it, but I actually found fish better than the Yuba fish. Take all of the fight of a Yuba fish, and add 4' and you have a Missouri River Rainbow or Brown. Each day, 10-20 fish per man, in flows of 22,000 cfs (4x normal flows), with an average size of 18"-19". Throw in the couple of 20" fish with the couple of 22" or 23" fish, and you had your day.  These fish were amazing with their aeriels and flat out reel screaming.  What a great fishery, and fishing towns on the river as well.
In Rock Creek, we had some good days on Rock Creek as well as the forks of Rock Creek as well. Our real highlight this year was starting a grassfire with our legal Montana fireworks this year. Needless to say, it got a little out of hand. Â
All other rivers, the Blackffot, Bitterroot and Clark Fork were blown. But no crowds and plenty of decent fishing to be had.

Nicely done there Bob. Those are some nice fish. Good thing you were a firefighter in Marin!!! I hope you didn't pour beer on the fire...
I would hope not....where I come from wasting good beer is punishable by death!!!!
