Hey folks...Don't forget to bring a plastic garbage bag with ya when you go to Putah Creek. If you get skunked fishing at least you'll come out with some trash I have cashed in over $50 worth of glass, plastic and aluminum this Summer.  Tight lines.  TMS

I am not sure what picking up someone else's trash has in the way of fishing excitement; is this because others will not pick up after themselves or . . .?  I understand why, but not sure being responsible for others' litter is on the dinner plate.  (It is not my favorite stream because of its litter.)

Nothing to do with angling excitement I'm afraid.

If everyone that fished there would pack out a little bit of junk on each trip there would be very little garbage. Little things do make a difference in the long run.

I was fishing the West Walker river in 1981. Back in my drinking and ummmm..yeah those days. I tossed a starburst wraper in the water without much thought. A few days later and a couple of miles downstream I cought a fish that had eaten that wraper. That kind of put things in perspective for me.

I do what I can.

Lighfoot...I have a classic 1987 Honda Civic 4-door...Probably not much left in the way of $$ value  At least it gets me to the fishing holes.

Having never fished the creek during the Fall and WInter can you or any other Forumite give me a rundown on how conditions change over the next several months?  I know that flows come down, however, how does the overall environment change?  More wildlife? More rain? More fog?  Stuff like that...thanks. TMS

Yeah the good old Putah creek trash issue.I have to strongly agree with Mr Lightfoot, unfortunately there is an element of individuals out there that will always litter up our creek, this usually happens during the bait season. Its up to responsible folks like ourselves to grab a handfull of worm containers salmon egg jars beer cans ect and stuff them in our fly vest every time we go out. Each year there is at least 3 different planned clean-ups at Putah.I try to let everybody know about them when they come around through this site.As far as I know, they are all during the fly only season.By the way I want to give a big thanks to Lightfoot and his buddy last year for retrieving a Honda Civic? from the banks of Putah during one of the cleanups. It was what I thought to be an impossble task and I pretty much told him so when they set out with they're Jeeps and winches to pull it up an embankment that was at places so steep that a person could hardly walk up it!!
