A pmd is a going to be a much lighter color, more yellow tan than brown. the markings on the front leading edge of the wings tell me that it is either a callibaetis adult, or a light colored march brown, both of which I have seen on the creek. I have been seening many more new bugs hatching at putah in the last 6 months which is awesome. More bugs for the fish to eat is always a plus.

Probably a Calibaetis. Two tails and the larger size would eliminate the PMD. Local entomologist Ken Davis has said the bigger mayflies seen around march are not march browns, but epeorus alberta aka pink alberts.
wow interesting. I throw a light march brown pattern that I use on the Yuba and it works pretty darn good. Didnt know they where the pink alberts. Thanks for clarifying that otter.

Sure looks like a calibeatis to me, they tend to hang out in the slower stretches of the creek. Have any of you seen a hexagenia on the creek? My good buddy called me last week while I was in the Alturas/ Burney area fishing and he said he witnessed a hex hatch on the creek for 2 days in a row, he's supposed to send me a pic.
Hex hatch??? Did you say HEX Hatch. I have some flies I picked up for the Almanor adventure. I am filling up the float tube right now and will be out there with binoculars and a head lamp. Mercer's Rag Hex nymph was working around Almanor. Might have a report tomorrow....
Looks like a hex to me!!!! By the way I did see the pics of the hex on Putah and it is th e real deal. Ken Davis has actually seen a few adults and nymphs on the lower stretches of the creek ( below diversion dam). Rich the Yellow sallie is a small stone fly about the size of a standard caddis, almost the same color as the hex in the picture though. Greg
I thought I saw a hex a week back but I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me, I guess I was wrong. Having a hex hatch on the creek is awesome, as if the bows needed an exuse to get any fatter, but I'm sure more food is always welcome.

Rich here is a pic of a yellow sally from the creek.
Nice pics. Hey has anyone ever caught a fish at putah on a sallie? I don't think Putah bows even know they are in there. Matter of fact the fishing completely shuts off as soon as I see one. Hoping someone can prove me wrong here.....
Nice, I figured there must be some folks that have tried them since we started talking about them a couple years back. Adam Trina is a badass fly creator and if anyone wants to see his stuff check out the montana fly company website.
