A survey being conducted on the creek by DFG and PCT indicates the spawn is about over. But that does not mean its safe to wade in the tailouts and other redd areas. After fertilization, the eggs are at risk to crushing boot treads for 45-50 days afterward. That means its another month, until April, before the fry are safe from our feet. Many of the redds are starting to silt over and are getting difficult to see in the tailouts and the creek also has reduced clarity right now, so the best practice is to avoid all gravel areas at any wadable depth. Also remember that the post spawn large fish are trying to put the weight back on after all their hard work, so handle any large fish carefully and don't subject them to long hookups/fights.
Thanks for the heads up. I've been itching to hit the creek, but not sure how long to let it rest. I didn't want to be "that guy".
