I have been pondering this question recently. Why choose to go to a creek, river or lake with rod and reel in hand? Why not just take a pair of hiking shoes and a camera or maybe a pair of binoculars to observe the wildlife?Â
Im currently formulating my own response but I would enjoy hearing others thoughts as well.
Off the top of my head  . 1 going to and from any river or lake the drive as much as i wish they where closer I like driving . spending time getting to know others that have common interests  and  learning what worked and didn't work  .  and last but not least spending time hiking wading  and learning the sport     oh ya the hookup  hooked up on my first steelhead yesterday didn't land it but got a good look at about 25 in steelie  put to much pressure and lost my dropper the knot pulled off my top hook  live and learn
You are wrong....your first steelhead was on the feather at the end of spring about 3 years ago...I know I was the one the took you ...You stuck it and then watched it take off and say bye bye...

I fish to get away from all the hustle, bustle and drama of everday life (I still don't know why i check these forums if I don't like drama!). I love standing in the cold rushing water of a creek or river and waiting for a hook-up. Even if I don't catch anything it's better than sittin' in a cube.
