That is a good looking caddis pattern...not sure what that webing is though??. Other tham that it looks quite "tieable" even for a beginner like me.
That said Rich......you seem to be "whacking" fish left, right and centre these days so, isn't it time you start tying your own flies ???

Sorry I only have one ..... but check Sweeny's out they have some pretty reasonably priced vices. I know the ones that NVFF got for the veterans were from there, they work fine and they were not expensive.
If you know exaclty what vice you are looking for you could try online. I like seeing first-hand what I am buying so don't usually buy that stuff online but there are deals to be had.
Anyway let me know if you get something I can at least show you how to tie some midges...sorry only ones I am good at rgloft wrote:

Do you think coleman mantles would work ? I would'nt mind getting a cheap vise and try tieing some of those ash caddis ?Â
Richard, Never tied one of these guys so not sure if what I say is true, but... once you got the vice and tools start with the easy ones first and then build your way up. its like everything a bit of patience and a lot of practice and you will get there. I have been tying for a year and a half now and only now I am getting confident in my own flies. But as i am sure many guys will tell you it makes it that much more fun to catch 'em on your own flies!!

I agree, especially when you catch a fish on your own made up pattern.

Looks like  someone is going to give me a vice  . met the guy at nvff monthley  meeting  so maybe I can start tieing  weather or not it comes with the tools I don,t know lets hope so I really would love to start tieing some of those ash caddises  but allistair might be right in starting with a easyer fly
That looks like one of those flies that is more interesting to the fisherman than the fish. I've really started to simplify my tying and the results work just as good.
Talked to cory at the fly shop and they would have to speicial order most of the items , and asked if i would like him to look for the flys already done any one want to split a doz # 18 /# 20 ? at 2 bucks each ? Â , he also said they look like drys
At a dozen you might as well just keep them all if they are so hard to come by??

Cliff have you been having lunch at the strip club again? I thought I told you chicken sandwiches dont mix with clear heels. We have had fly swaps last less time than this fly...nice tie by the way.

I totally agree with you Rich. The simple proven fly's work just fine.
