sarah and me finally went to the east walker at bridgeport got there friday at six spent the night fished friday night most of the day saterday sarah got a rainbow on the res then took a nap then we hit the river for the rest of the day and I got my first brown probibaly 3 pounds on a # 18 zibra midge very cool and it fought like hell took me 5 or 6 min to bring it no pics though . just thought I would give a report. later guys
heavy but we were able to find open water even with the crowds theres a lot of water I think the river gets a lot of pressure so if you go you might need to use light tippit and be stealthy after I caught my brown I stayed and hammered the same spot and no more bits so I think stealth is the word , the river is full of fish
I made a last second decison and stopped there on my way home from Mammoth. I got one on a dry fly about 15 inches, and I lost one nymphing about 20 inches. There were tons of fish in the eddies where some of the trails meet the water. Way to many people for me though, and I didn't feel like walking way down river...
I too spent a few hours Saturday on EW. Hardly a soul to fight off, though the increase in flows to over 400 limited the wading. When my group pulled up above the bridge after lunch there was only one group of three guys packing up. We were having success short line "dredging" with tons of weight and heavy tippets.
LilWhip, guess we missed each other...again?!
RG, where you fishing just below the dam? We picked a bummer of a weekend to fish EW with the increase in flows...

Oh yeah, then I ran into a guide who wanted to hog a whole stretch of the river because there were so many people fishing. I would think if a guide is worried about not having any holes to fish, why would he take his client to the miracle mile?
