I know this is mostly a fly fishing forum. Ive only been fishing for about... well 10 days to be honest. Last time was about 15 years ago in Boy Scouts.
Right now im getting back into it with just a spin reel and some lures.
My question is about the actual "Lake" part of Solano Lake/Putah Creek.
Is there any decent bank fishing on the Lake anymore? Ive been out 3 days now, for about 4-5 hours, and in total have seen 1 decent sized fish jump out the water, and about 2-3 tiny like 4-5inch fish. No bites, nothing else.
Is Bank fishing out at the "Lake" worth my time? Are there any spots in perticular I should focus out on?
Really appreciate the help guys. Like I said, im just getting back into fishing, and starting with something Im a little more familiar with first.
You might drive the extra 7 minutes up to Lake Berryessa. There are several access points between the dam and the first resort. Try the Capell Cove access on the other side of the lake, near Turtle Rock. There is some pretty "bassy" water there.

As far as I know the lake is fishing about as slow as the creek, as far as where to go the area near Diversion dam is probably your best bet because the old creek channel runs right near the road. Use a canoe or a foat tube if you have either and try the area upstream of the bridge next to the weed channels. Hope this helps a little, good luck. Greg
They stopped stocking the Lake sometime ago, however I've been told by the Ranger some people are still pulling a few out near the Diversion dam off of Putah Creek Rd, there are a few spots to sit along the road. I have had some luck near Monticello Dam under the overcrossing and closer to the dam. You can walk upstream towards the dam on the opposite side of the camp ground. Cast upstream and float an egg downstream. Good Luck.

You do know that bait fishing is illegal on Putah Creek right?
