Putah as many of the more experieced guys on the board will tell you is always tough... and the fishing, for me at least ..has been pretty slow. The flows have also moved up quite a bit. Along the creek any pullout usually means there is a spot nearby, and any water that looks fishy is worth a try. Use A LOT of weight to get the flies down, with small mayflies and midges is what has worked for me.
Anyway my 10 cents worth I am sure you will get other , and probably more qualified advice.
Tight Lines.
PS. Just a reminder Putah is now C&R with barbless flies or artificials only!!

Also watch out for poison oak, rattlesnakes, skunks, cougars (found at the Buckhorn restaurant), mountain lions... just kidding except for the poison oak.
If you can't make it to Sweeney's, you can purchase a day license through the DFG website, or at a Walmart.
I second that about the DFG website, its a great site and very user friendly. It cost me a fortune to fish in California on day permits before I became a resident in situ for six months. Every time I wanted to go fishing I would have to pay the 13 dollar fee and print a license for each day. The plus side about the DFG site is that you can print you day ticket as many days in advance as you like so you can make use of your printer at home.
Hope you enjoy your day on the river and make sure to report back if you have or don't have any luck. I've have been to the river a good few times now and I have only been lucky to see a trout once let alone catch one.
Regards,
Denis

Fly fishing is so enjoyable, it should be done in bed.
Currently, the numbers of fish are fairly low and, yes they are PhD level once they survive a year or two. Now that the flows are coming up, wading is getting to be difficult. If it were me, I'd fish Access 5 for wadability, but fewer fish and Access 1-3 for more fish. Lots of PO around the trails and bank in this stretch. The dam/bridge area gets pounded, legally and illegally, but has fair access.
Not so sure about that....2-3 if your good maybe 1 if your lucky!!!
