I haven't fished the creek for quite some time and decided to go check it out, ha ha. The creek is a solid chocolate brown. There is some green water above Cold creek. I can't believe how much silt is coming down Cold creek. Just walking up a bit you can see that this is the source of many problems on Putah. The side slopes are caving in, and the width of the creek is expanding with every storm.
I hiked the Blue Ridge Loop Trail a couple of times yesterday, so I had to rock hop across Cold Creek twice. I wasn't sure if I would make it, especially with a 25 lb pack. If the creek had been another inch higher, I wouldn't have even attempted it. There was quite a bit of water coming down the canyon.

Unfortently I don't think anything can be done to stop this. The creek needs a good flushing. A few weeks ago when we hung the regs. signs, I noticed entire rocky sections and gravel bars burried in mud. I'm sure alot of eggs and or fry from this past spawn did nothing more then sufficate in silt.
